Even within the field of mesothelioma, not all providers specialize in the same area. Depending on your location, goals, and specific type of mesothelioma (pleural vs. peritoneal, operable vs. non-operable, epithelioid vs. sarcomatoid), we can provide you with several specialists best suited to treat your particular case. Please contact our on-staff mesothelioma expert at [email protected] or (703) 879-3819 to discuss.
The Meso Foundation can also be helpful to those who already may have a trusted medical team. The organization provides financial assistance for travel, support groups via telephone and online, informational materials, videos, interviews with experts, and a supportive community that works together to end mesothelioma. Treatment for pleural mesothelioma
Treatment options span across a variety of modalities, some experimental, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy, and tumor-treating fields.
Treatment for peritoneal mesothelioma
While no standard treatment for peritoneal mesothelioma exists, mesothelioma specialists offer treatment options such as chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy, sometimes in combination with surgery such as HIPEC.
Integrative Medicine (Complementary and alternative therapies)
Complementary therapies can be very helpful in minimizing side-effects of traditional treatments and maximizing treatment results; but they should be considered and used carefully. Alternative therapies are usually defined as those used instead of standard medical treatment. The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation follows evidence-based protocols and therefore does not advise use of alternative therapies.
