Treatment Information and Resources

Even within the field of mesothelioma, not all providers specialize in the same area. Depending on your location, goals, and specific type of mesothelioma (pleural vs. peritoneal, operable vs. non-operable, epithelioid vs. sarcomatoid), we can provide you with several specialists best suited to treat your particular case. Please contact our on-staff mesothelioma expert at [email protected] or (703) 879-3819 to discuss.

The Meso Foundation can also be helpful to those who already may have a trusted medical team. The organization provides financial assistance for travelsupport groups via telephone and online, informational materials, videos, interviews with experts, and a supportive community that works together to end mesothelioma. Treatment for pleural mesothelioma

Treatment options span across a variety of modalities, some experimental, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy, and tumor-treating fields.

Treatment for peritoneal mesothelioma

While no standard treatment for peritoneal mesothelioma exists, mesothelioma specialists offer treatment options such as chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy, sometimes in combination with surgery such as HIPEC.

Integrative Medicine (Complementary and alternative therapies)

Complementary therapies can be very helpful in minimizing side-effects of traditional treatments and maximizing treatment results; but they should be considered and used carefully. Alternative therapies are usually defined as those used instead of standard medical treatment. The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation follows evidence-based protocols and therefore does not advise use of alternative therapies.
