The campaign to Light the World Blue to raise mesothelioma awareness began in 2020 when we lit just 15 landmarks. In the last five years, we’ve grown to light over 250 landmarks including Niagara Falls.
Light up your community in honor of Meso Awareness Day by following these steps!
Mesothelioma Awareness Day is quickly approaching! With that in mind, we are eager to start reaching out to various buildings and landmarks across the country as a part of our Light the World Blue Campaign. Different buildings and landmarks that might be able to help us out include, but are not limited to, bridges, skyscrapers, university buildings, Ferris wheels, tourist attractions, museums, ballparks, and amusement parks.
Action Items:
- IDENTIFY LANDMARKS NEAR YOU
To start, use a search engine to figure out what landmarks are near you or drive around at night to see which buildings have lighting capabilities. - ASK FOR LANDMARK TO BE LIT UP BLUE
Search “light up _________ request form.” This may lead you somewhere, but if not, you can usually contact your city government through a contact form on their website to determine if any city-owned buildings are available for illumination. Some city governments are eager to help with this project because they will be able to publish this event on their website. (If asked on the form for the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization sponsoring it, please mention the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation and use our website curemeso.org). Contact our intern, Mackenzie at [email protected] for help or questions. Use the sample request letter at the button below if needed. - TELL US THE STATUS OF YOUR APPLICATION (submitted, confirmed, denied)
Email Mackenzie Thomas at [email protected] to let her know of progress with your submissions
We will keep track of confirmed landmarks below so you can see what buildings near you are to be lit.
