Mesothelioma and Genetics

Mesothelioma is a cancer that affects a small amount of people who are exposed to asbestos. Why do some people develop mesothelioma and others do not? There is a genetic predisposition called BAP 1 germline mutation. Individuals who are BAP 1 positive have higher likelihood to develop different forms of cancer including mesothelioma. This session focuses on how genetics play a role in mesothelioma.
