The pre-application period for the Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program (PRCRP) submission is now open and accepting Letters of Intent (LOIs). To help researchers succeed in obtaining up to $3 million in mesothelioma research funding, Dr. Donna Kimbark, the program manager for the PRCRP, provided the Meso Foundation with a presentation specific to mesothelioma research to help the mesothelioma research community understand the best strategies for submitting successful applications. We encourage interested researchers to watch the presentation here or click below. This year, $130 million have been appropriated to this program, and mesothelioma is one of 20 topics eligible for funding. The program provides seven distinct mechanisms for funding to accommodate a wide variety of research project types.
The PRCRP is a program housed within the Department of Defense, and more specifically the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program. The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation was instrumental in adding mesothelioma as a topic eligible for funding in 2008. Since then, over $30 million dollars have been allocated to mesothelioma research projects.
More information about funding for mesothelioma research is available on the curemeso.org website.
