MesoTV | How Does an Oncologist Determine if a Clinical Trial is Right for a Patient?

In this MesoTV episode, we are joined by Dr. Marjorie Zauderer, a medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Zauderer talks about the thought process she and other medical oncologists employ when determining whether a patient should enroll in a clinical trial and which trial that should be.

“A lot of the trials for people who were just diagnosed are standard treatment plus something else, not necessarily challenging or replacing what those standards are. When we look at people who have already been treated and got different therapies, it starts to become a little bit more complicated in terms of my thought process. Because it is not just what [treatment] did you get, [but also] how well did it work? Did you tolerate it?”
