Meso Foundation announces seven new members to its science advisory board

Science Advisory Board

The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of seven new members to its science advisory board (SAB).  

“These experienced new members join an impressive board of mesothelioma researchers and clinicians,” Mary Hesdorffer, nurse practitioner and executive director of the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation. “I am confident in their ability to help the Foundation continue funding the most promising mesothelioma research.” 

The board is comprised of a rotating group of renowned experts in the field of mesothelioma research. Members review and score all grant applications submitted to the Foundation’s mesothelioma research grants program and select the ones recommended for funding. Since 2000, the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation has funded 111 research projects and $10.5 million in mesothelioma research grants

New board members join Tobias Peikert, MD, Mayo Clinic, board chair; Joseph Friedberg, MD, University of Maryland; Travis Grotz, MD, Mayo Clinic; Chuong Dinh Hoang, MD, Mayo Clinic; Fabian Johnston, MD, MHS, Johns Hopkins University; Steven Mutsaers, PhD, University of Western Australia; and Emanuela Taioli, MD, PhD, Mount Sinai. 

The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation is the only 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to eradicate mesothelioma and end this national tragedy. Its programs include the funding of promising and peer-reviewed research, education, support and advocacy. The organization strives to bring together thought leaders in the field to identify the most direct path to a cure.
