The inaugural Music for Meso kicks off this Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019 in Apple Valley, MN, just outside the Twin Cities. This Fundraise for Meso event is organized by Patrick Sheppard to honor his father, Jim, who is a pleural mesothelioma warrior diagnosed in April 2019. So far, Jim has gone through four rounds of chemotherapy and had a pleurectomy earlier this month.
What began as an idea to organize a 5K to raise mesothelioma awareness and research funds turned into a music-related event after Patrick realized none of his family members were runners.
“My dad and I have always shared a bond over music. We play and write together, so I thought, ‘let’s have something true to us.'”
The Line Up:
- The Double Down Daredevils (six-piece bluegrass band)
- 1:00-1:45 PM
- Tori Evans (singer and songwriter)
- 2:00-2:45 PM
- Reigning Runners Up (Patrick’s band)
- 3:00-3:45 PM
- Ghost Wagon (alternative Americana band)
- 4:00-4:45 PM
There will also be a silent auction and games. Auction items include tickets to the House of Comedy at the Mall of America, theater tickets from the Guthrie Theatre, club level tickets to the Minnesota Wild vs. Dallas Stars hockey game, four passes to the Science Museum of Minnesota, zipline tickets at Kerfoot Canopy Tour, Metropolis Resort part tickets, two complimentary rounds of golf at Heritage Links Golf Club, a scenic boat tour from Padelford Riverboats, and a private wine tasting at Total Wine and More.
