Mesothelioma patient registry task force to convene in March

With September’s passage of the appropriations bill, which included funding for a feasibility study, the preliminary steps in the development of a National Mesothelioma Patient Registry are now underway.

On Tuesday, March 26, 2019, a mesothelioma patient registry task force will convene in Bethesda, MD, in conjunction with the Meso Foundation’s International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma, bringing together experts in the field to discuss the potential implementation of the registry.

Specifically, the program (compiled by David Weissman, MD, Director of the Respiratory Health Division within the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and Harvey Pass, MD, NYU Langone Medical Center) will begin by examining existing methods of tracking mesothelioma patients in the United States, and will review similar practices in other diseases. A deeper analysis into the usefulness of a mesothelioma patient registry will follow in the form of presentations and a moderated discussion.

The cost to attend this special meeting is $150 and registration is available here (PATIENT REGISTRY TASK FORCE registration category must be selected).
