Bill Ziegler, a seven-year mesothelioma patient, joins board of directors of nonprofit organization

The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (Meso Foundation) announced today that William (Bill) N. Ziegler has been elected to join its board of directors. He will begin to serve his first three-year term immediately.

Bill, a seven-year pleural mesothelioma patient, was diagnosed in 2011 shortly after the birth of his third child. As a director, he will be focused on patient advocacy as it relates to the patient experience, treatment, and policy.

“Bill brings to us his experiences as a patient, and we are excited to welcome him,” said Mary Hesdorffer, nurse practitioner and executive director of the Meso Foundation. “We believe his personal and his professional experience will be extremely valuable to the Foundation.”

Bill grew up in rural Erie, Michigan before moving to East Lansing, Michigan where he studied telecommunications and business at Michigan State University. He and his wife, Kate, have three children, Nona, Henry, and Coral. When he is not playing with his family, you can find Bill on his bicycle, at the ballpark, or driving at the racetrack.

More information about the Meso Foundation’s board of directors, including a full list of members, can be found on our website.
