We have some exciting news! We just learned that in honor of #GivingTuesday, Facebook and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will contribute up to $1 million to Facebook fundraisers. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will provide $500,000 in matching funds, up to $1,000 per Facebook fundraiser, and Facebook will waive up to $500,000 of fees on all donations.
This means that if you create your own Facebook fundraising page to benefit the Meso Foundation, the money you raise starting on #GivingTuesday (Tuesday, November 29) will be matched up to $1,000! We’d be honored if you would take this opportunity to support our mission to eradicate mesothelioma and the suffering caused by this cancer.
Setting up a Facebook fundraiser is quick and easy. Below, we provide you with a step-by-step guide that will have your page up and running within minutes.
Step One: Log on to your Facebook account.
Step Two: On the home page, scroll down until you see the “Create Fundraiser” option on the left sidebar. Click it. A short form will pop up.
Step Three: Begin typing “Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation” in the nonprofit search bar, and click on it when it pops up as an option. Be sure to select the correct organization, as others have very similar names.
Step Four: Create a title for your fundraiser and add a few sentences about why fundraising for the Meso Foundation is important to you. At this point, you can also add a cover photo, select an end date (if you want to), and set a goal amount. When you’re finished, click the Create button.
Step Five: That’s it! Your Facebook fundraiser is ready to go. Now you can invite friends, share your fundraiser on your newsfeed, or send it in a message to start raising funds to support the Meso Foundation.
