Meso Foundation Receives 4-Star Charity Navigator Rating

Charity Navigator Four Star Rating

Charity Navigator has awarded the Meso Foundation its highest rating, reserved for organizations that exceed industry standards and outperform most charities in their cause. Charity Navigator is the nation’s largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities with the mission to guide intelligent giving.

The Meso Foundation is the only mesothelioma charity to receive a 4-star rating. The rating is awarded based on Charity Navigator’s evaluation of financial health and accountability & transparency. The Accountability & Transparency metrics, which account for 50 percent of a charity’s overall rating, reveal which charities have “best practices” that minimize the chance of unethical activities and whether they freely share basic information about their organization with their donors and other stakeholders.

“In the field of mesothelioma, it is sometimes difficult to ascertain which organizations are actual charities and which ones merely serve the purpose of marketing legal services,” said Mary Hesdorffer, NP, the executive director of the Meso Foundation. “Our 4-star Charity Navigator rating demonstrates to our supporters that we take our fiduciary and governance responsibilities very seriously and that we are an ethical charity working hard to fulfill its mission to find a cure for mesothelioma and end the suffering caused by it.”

Giving to a non-profit organization should always be an informed decision, and learning about the organization’s work as well as its financial standing is a great step toward that. At the Meso Foundation, we are proud of our 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. We want our community to know how our organization operates and we want our donors to be confident that their money is being used responsibly to support our mission.
